Kenya

How we started in Kenya

Mountain Movers International has partnered with World Orphanage, a ministry based in Colorado Springs, to assist in funding the construction of an orphanage in Kenya. Through the generosity of Randy Fair, one of the founders of MMI, the necessary funding was made available. World Orphanage had staff in the field to ensure the supervision and success of the project.

Pastor Paul Too, our local contact, provided the photo (at left) showing the progress of the construction. Ground was broken in 2005 with assistance of a local church. Children in the community assisted by carrying bricks. Water was transported by bicycle and by donkey.

Work came to a halt in January, 2006, when funding stopped. "As soon as we get the second disbursement, we will be able to roof and plaster all rooms, fix doors and paint the whole building," Pastor Too said. "God is great for having started this work to help the orphans and disowned children."

What we do now

After the success of our first project in Kenya helping the indigenous people there and planting the seeds of evangelism, we decided we wanted a more permanent mission in Kenya. Through the relationships Mountain Movers developed during our first project there, we were able to come up with a strategic plan for a continued presence there. Mountain Movers International continues to work in Kenya through our ministry Capstone Ministries.
